Welcome to WCA

The vision of Wilmington Christian Academy is to

lay a foundation for your child’s lifelong learning by preparing students for the “So what?” and “Who cares?” questions that define our lives.

As teachers and staff, our desire is that our students find beauty and goodness in well written and meaningful books, learn the sciences to serve humankind’s experience on God’s earth, and find creativity and

personal satisfaction in the arts.

We want our students to read deeply,

think critically, and write clearly.

Message from the Principal

Welcome to a new school year at Wilmington Christian Academy, the home of the Lions! We are excited to get started into a great year of teaching, learning, and loving our Lord. This year we have many new student we want to welcome to WCA as well as to make our continuing students feel like this is a wonderful place to learn and grow educationally as well as spiritually. We have a number of new staff members and feel very blessed to have them join our school family.

This year's building theme is JOY : Jesus first, Others second, and ourselves last. We will also have weekly character themes throughout the year which are being talked about daily. Please ask your child if they know the weeks themes and ask them to try to reinforce that idea in your homes.

I am personally grateful to be a part of Wilmington Christian Academy and feel blessed to serve out students, staff, and our families throughout the year. Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you have concerns.

We would like to extend an invitation for you to be part of our PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship). This group helps do many things for our students and staff throughout the year and hosts monthly activities/fundraisers to benefit WCA. The group meets every 2nd Thursday of the month at 4:45 p.m. We would love to have you join us!

I want to wish you and your families many blessings throughout the year!

Mary Beth Jones, WCA Principal

Mission Statement

Wilmington Christian Academy, in partnership with the student’s family, aims to provide academic excellence with a Christian foundation to cultivate mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

Educational Philosophy

Wilmington Christian Academy represents a partnership among the students, parents, faculty, administration, and staff. These partners are united in their commitment to the common objectives outlined in the Mission Statement. Students and parents respect Wilmington Christian Academy’s teachers, as role models and instructors, for their commitment to truth and their genuine concern for children. Intelligence, creativity, responsibility and loyalty are characteristics of the faculty.

Parents expect and appreciate direct and regular communication from faculty regarding their children. Reciprocally, parents are responsive to suggestions from teachers and administrators for helping students.

The administrators, under the authority of the Wilmington Christian Academy board, oversee the implementation of the Mission Statement in the school. In their capacities as policy-makers and community leaders, these administrators advance the Academy’s role as an institution dedicated to providing the best education for children.

Wilmington Christian Academy recognizes each child as an individual who, by virtue of his humanity, is in community with all the other children in the Academy, regardless of age. By providing moral and ethical standards, the Academy prepares its students to accept the privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship and to honor and respect their Maker. Every child is capable of achieving his potential to the fullest extent when afforded respect, fairness, kindness, discipline and appropriate instruction.
